In the wake of a successful debut season, Taskmaster Australia is geared up for a return, with filming for the second season recently finalised in New Zealand.

Tom Gleeson, known for his tough-love approach, is set to reprise his role as Taskmaster, accompanied by his trusty offsider, Tom Cashman.

The first season, which premiered earlier this year, made waves on Channel 10, featuring an impressive cast of celebrity contestants including Julia Morris, Luke McGregor, Jimmy Rees, Nina Oyama, and Danielle Walker. These stars were pitted against each other in a series of challenges, each one offering a more perplexing puzzle than the last.

Channel 10 remains mum on the casting and broadcast details for the second season; however names including Becky Lucas, Nick Cody and Anne Edmonds are rumoured to be involved. The inaugural season, which aired in a Thursday timeslot, garnered a sizeable audience, drawing in an impressive 520,000 viewers nationally on its overnight broadcast.

For the uninitiated, Taskmaster Australia sees the nation’s finest comedians battle it out for points, striving to complete seemingly mundane tasks with as much creativity, speed, and flair as possible. The tasks, designed to stretch their problem-solving skills and quick thinking, are a true test of the comedians’ mettle.

The Australian version of Taskmaster is adapted from the BAFTA-winning UK comedy format of the same name. The show is internationally acclaimed, renowned for its unique blend of rewarding innovation, scolding incompetence, and providing constant laughs. The format has been sold to 12 countries worldwide, with over 300 episodes produced outside the UK.
