SBS confirms broadcast details for 2023 TOUR DE FRANCE coverage

SBS is gearing up for an intense month of gripping entertainment and fierce competition as the eagerly awaited 110th Tour de France returns, featuring both men’s and women’s races.

SBS will be providing comprehensive coverage of the events, with the men’s race running from July 1 to July 23, and the women’s race, Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, taking place from July 23 to July 30.

This year’s Tour will kick off in Bilbao, the largest city in the Spanish Basque country, and take competitors through six regions and 23 departments across Spain and France. Ending on the iconic Champs-Élysées, the riders will have to tackle eight flat stages, four hilly stages, eight mountain stages with four summit finishes, and one individual time trial, making this an exciting and challenging route, particularly for the climbers.

The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, returning for its second year, begins in Clermont-Ferrand and will see the riders looping through the beautiful French countryside, across three regions and 12 departments, finishing at the French Mountains’ edge of Pau. The women’s race comprises of four flat stages, two hilly stages, one mountain stage, and one individual time trial.

Commentary will be brought to you by the expert team of Matthew Keenan, Simon Gerrans, Dr Bridie O’Donnell, David McKenzie, Gracie Elvin, Christophe Mallet and Mark Renshaw.

They will provide exclusive interviews, insights on race tactics, and highlight the cultural and historical significance of the regions the race will travel through.

All stages of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will stream live via SBS On Demand – the Home of Cycling. The platform also features a new Tour de France hub for a variety of catch-up replays, extended highlights, and more. The SBS Sport website will keep audiences updated with news, expert analysis, statistics and highlight videos. Stages will also be streamed live on the SBS ŠKODA Tour Tracker app, offering uninterrupted coverage with live data and rider stats.

In addition to the races, SBS will also present “Plat du Tour,” a unique culinary journey led by renowned French-Australian chef Guillaume Brahimi.

Guillaume will follow the Tour de France locations, taking viewers through the exquisite French food culture from each region. The series will feature 21 recipes corresponding to the 21 stages of the Tour de France, capturing the culture and traditions of each city and town the Tour visits. The “Plat du Tour” segments will be available on SBS Food Online and SBS On Demand and will air as special episodes on SBS Food from July 27, after the conclusion of the 2023 Tour de France.
