The balloon has well and truly burst for Blow Up Australia, with the ambitious new primetime series getting bumped to multi-channel 7Flix from next week after premiering to less than ideal numbers this week.
On Monday night, the show launched to a disappointing average overnight audience of just 288,000 5 capital city viewers landing it fourth for the evening in it’s timeslot. On Tuesday night it dropped further, losing around 60,000 viewers from the previous night to land fifth in it’s timeslot outside of the Top 20 shows for the night and behind the SBS.
The new balloon reality series which is based on an original Dutch concept has been widely compared as a cheap knock-off to that of Lego Masters Australia, already in it’s fifth season and which airs on rival network Channel 9 hosted by popular television presenter Hamish Blake.
TV Blackbox Writer Samantha Kukuljan recently reviewed Blow Up Australia to see whether the show was unique enough in it’s concept and whether it could stand up to the popular Lego Masters series and for local television viewers. You can read her review of the show here.
From next week, the 7 Network has moved the Farmer Wants a Wife Reunion episode originally schedule to air on Sunday to Monday night at 7:30pm, with double episodes of schedule staple Highway Patrol from 7:30pm on Tuesday evening instead.
