A rare Monday night game on FTA brings a winning result for Seven anyway


Channel 7

Home & Away (337,000 (249,000 Seven BNE/SYD/PER; 88,000 7TWO MEL/ADL)) starts slower for Seven because of the footy, so the night split into Seven’s AFL: Monday Night Football (465,000 (364,000 Seven MEL/ADL; 101,000 7mate BNE/SYD/PER)) OR new and repeat eps of Highway Patrol (153,000; 129,000 BNE/SYD/PER only),
and a repeat of MOVIE: 1917 (116,000 Seven BNE/SYD/PER) before coming back together with a repeat of How To Look Good Naked (57,000).

Seven first in both primary (24.3%) and network (34.6%) rankings.

Channel 9

A Current Affair (592,000) brings a smaller audience to the start for Nine, followed by a dependable Lego Masters Australia: Grand Masters (454,000). RPA (242,000) also reasonable though behind the main players, before the night split into 100% Footy (40,000) or Casualty 24/7 (37,000), and then back together with The Equalizer (37,000).

Nine second in both primary (18%) and network (24.1%) rankings.


ABC

ABC’s Monday night current affairs line-up starts with a solid third place in primetime for 7:30 (419,000) and Australian Story (412,000), followed by a strong Four Corners (409,000) and Media Watch (425,000). Q+A (172,000), however, slides to another low, before India Now (58,000) rounds out the night.

ABC third in both primary (13.2%) and network (17.7%) rankings.


Channel 10

The Project (181,000 6:30pm; 246,000 7pm) offers a slower start to 10 on a Monday, however I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! (409,000) maintains a reasonable audience as the season starts to wane. New and repeat eps of FBI: Most Wanted (154,000; 84,000) close out the late night.

10 fourth in both primary (10.3%) and network (16%) rankings.

SBS

Another slow night on SBS, with The Secret Life of Lighthouses (126,000), My Name is Reeva (38,000) and a repeat of 24 Hours in Emergency (56,000).

SBS fifth in both primary (3.5%) and network (7.5%) rankings.


KEY DEMOS

16-39: Seven’s AFL: Monday Night Football (105,000) beat Seven News 6pm, Nine News 6:30pm, Seven News 6:30pm, and Lego Masters Australia.

18-49: Seven News 6pm (198,000) led Seven News 6:30pm, Seven’s AFL: Monday Night Football, Lego Masters Australia, and Nine News 6:30pm.

25-54: Seven News 6pm (250,000) was followed by Seven News 6:30pm, Nine News 6:30pm, Lego Masters Australia, and Nine News 6pm.

No changes to the previous week’s primetime line-up after the Total TV figures were added: Farmer Wants A Wife (Seven) lifted 26% to 1,152,000; Lego Masters Australia (Nine) lifted 34% to 881,000; and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! (10) lifted 34% to 774,000.

The BVOD best were Farmer Wants A Wife (179,000), The Claremont Murders – Part 2 (142,000), Home and Away (137,000), Lego Masters Australia (117,000), and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! (116,000).

  1. Nine’s Afternoon News has become very competitive with Ten News First in recent months. It seems like the two are always within a few thousand viewers of each other in Total TV.

    • Hi Ian – the afternoon News is proving to be a unique battleground, and then the 5pm-6pm commercial offerings (The Chase Australia, Millionaire, 10 News First) is always a challenging timeslot.
