Screen Producers Australia (SPA) has announced an impressive lineup of sessions for the upcoming SCREEN FOREVER 37, to be held from 3 to 5 May 2023 on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

SPA has revealed an In Conversation session with Ted Miller, the esteemed Head of Global TV at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), as well as two ABC sessions celebrating Australian First Nations storytelling, including a live Q+A moderated by Fran Kelly.

Miller, who represents some of the world’s leading television producers, writers, directors, and showrunners, will be part of an exploratory In Conversation session at the event. Miller will also be on a panel during the Decision Makers session, discussing Australian trends making waves with audiences globally and what the future holds. This panel will include key decision-makers from the UK and NZ.

The Celebrating First Nations Storytelling session will mark the 30th anniversary of the First Nations department at Screen Australia. Jodie Bell, the CEO of Ramu Productions and a First Nations descendant of the Butchella and Jagera people of Southeast Queensland, will lead a discussion on how the ABC and Screen Australia have nurtured First Nation’s authored content. The session will also explore the history of the First Nations Department and its role in accelerating the careers of First Nations creatives.

The live ABC Q+A session will be moderated by Fran Kelly, who has presented ABC Radio National Breakfast for over 15 years. This year’s session will investigate how screen practitioners can create a place for every story and a story for every place.

The panellists will explore a range of issues related to global streaming services, including Australian culture on screen, the pros and cons of mass media creating global villages of viewers, the uniqueness and diversity of the Australian screen industry, and how the Australian government and citizens can support a healthy and sustainable sector.

SCREEN FOREVER 37 promises to be an insightful and engaging event, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the latest trends and issues in the world of screen production.
