The night before Australia Day is always a softer one because lots of people take off for an extended long weekend.
Audiences are down slightly year on year but that’s not stopping Nine from taking full advantage of it.
Channel 9
All tennis, all the time paying dividends again for Nine, as the 2023 Australian Open – Night 10 (475,000; session two 458,000; late 189,000) delivers smaller but more fanatical audiences.
Nine first in both primary (24.1%) and network (33.4%) rankings.
Channel 7
Seven open with a slightly softer Home & Away (434,000) before pivoting into a slightly better than average Big Bash League: Melbourne Stars v Sydney Thunder (273,000) result. A repeat of Crime Investigation Australia (83,000) aired to complete the evening.
Seven second in both primary (18.8%) and network (28.8%) rankings.
ABC
The ABC lead with 2023 Australian of the Year (282,000), drawing a small crowd. Repeats of Spicks and Specks (193,000), Utopia (175,000), QI (109,000), and Midsomer Murders (69,000) complete the night.
ABC third in primary (10.9%) and fourth in network (15%) rankings.
Channel 10
The Project (140,000 6:30pm; 209,000 7pm) soft again for 10 by comparison to their main competitors. The Bachelors Australia (280,000) maintains its average for the penultimate episode–finale this Sunday! Fire Country (91,000) and a repeat of Bull (61,000) deliver some eyes in the late night.
10 fourth in primary (9.4%) and third in network (15.6%) rankings.
SBS
SBS have a very quiet night, with the Sunset Ceremony (29,000) simulcast on their main channel, NITV, and 10 Play. Tokyo Vice (22,000) also much softer in the late evening.
SBS fifth in both primary (2.2%) and network (7.3%) rankings.

The BVOD best were Home and Away (168,000) and The Bachelors Australia (154,000).
