Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the much-anticipated third season of “Truth Be Told,” the NAACP Image Award-winning anthology series starring Octavia Spencer and Gabrielle Union.
The 10-episode season, which premieres later this month follows Spencer as investigative reporter turned true crime podcaster Poppy Scoville as she takes on a new case.
Based on Kathleen Barber’s novel “While You Were Sleeping,” “Truth Be Told” offers a unique look at America’s obsession with true crime podcasts and the consequences of pursuing justice in the public sphere.
In season three, Poppy teams up with an unconventional principal, played by Union, to keep the names of missing black girls in the media while investigating a suspected sex trafficking ring.
The cast also includes returning stars Mekhi Phifer, David Lyons, Ron Cephas Jones, Merle Dandridge, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, Mychala Faith Lee, and Tami Roman.
“Truth Be Told” is created and executive produced by Nichelle Tramble Spellman, with Maisha Closson serving as showrunner for season three. It is produced for Apple by Hello Sunshine, Chernin Entertainment, Orit Entertainment, and Fifth Season.
