Network 10’s ambitious new reality dating series, The Real Love Boat Australia, has been bumped to a later timeslot following it’s second airing after failing to buoy viewers.

On Wednesday night the show attracted an audience of just 215,000 metro across the 5 capital cities and landing outside the top 20 programs of the night at #24.

On it’s second outing on Thursday night, overnight ratings sunk even further to a measly 174,000 viewers, sealing the shows fate and forcing the network to act and move it to a later timeslot.

From next week the show will now air from 8:30pm Wednesday & Thursday, with a repeat of The Dog House Australia now added to the schedule on Wednesday and popular staple Gogglebox Australia being brought forward to 7:30pm Thursday night.

The reality dating show, hosted by Darren McMullen and set aboard a Princess Cruises ship is described as: “Australia’s most eligible singles embark on the romantic voyage of a lifetime in the hope of finding their perfect match and lasting love”, was supposed to be a modern take on the beloved original scripted series, The Love Boat.

Announced earlier this year, the show was commissioned along with a US version for the networks sister station CBS’, which launched overnight local time as this fall’s lowest-rated series launch at just 2.4 million viewers and a demo rating of 0.3.

The show failing to set sail comes at a time when the network recently announced the shows renewal for 2023 at their upfront event to advertisers and media on Thursday.

The Real Love Boat Australia continues next week, Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th October, from 8:30pm on 10 and 10 play.
