Since the existence of an all-new Kath & Kim reunion special was leaked earlier this year, the big question in TV circles has been when and where will it be broadcast?
So when Channel 7 broadcast a ‘Still to come in 2022′ extended promo featuring our two beloved foxy ladies during the AFL Grand Final, we thought we finally had the answer.
However, a spokesperson for Channel 7 has told us not so fast!
Apparently, the inclusion of Kath & Kim in the new network promo was only to highlight the fact the network has secured repeat rights to the original series, which it intends airing in a Thursday timeslot from next week.
All is not lost however with Channel 7 expected to officially confirm the highly anticipated reunion special at the network’s October 25 Upfronts presentation. It remains unclear if the highly anticipated special will screen this year or will used by the network to kick-start its broadcast lineup in 2023.
The new Kath & Kim special was filmed in Melbourne earlier this year and is expected to follow a similar format to last year’s blockbuster Friends reunion.
All of the core cast including Gina Riley, Jane Turner, Magda Szubanski, Glenn Robbins and Peter Rowsthorn are understood to have returned for the special which is expected to include a mixture of new sketch material, previously unseen footage and cast interviews.
Along with the core cast, guests involved with the special include Sonia Kruger, Celia Pacquola and Collingwood footballer Mason Cox.
