I think the point Molk was trying to make, but didn’t quite get there on children’s quotas, is if the FTAs point to all the streaming services and say “there’s kids shows over there, so we don’t need to make them” then that’s putting it out there that people are paying for kids stuff so they’re now magically absolved from investing in it.
However, when it comes to the anti siphoning list, the argument is reversed, where they now go “you can’t put these big sporting events behind a paywall because Australians need to see them for free!”.
So we need to pay for kids shows to see them, but we can’t possibly pay to see sport. They not only want their cake and to eat it too, but they also want to dictate what cake we can eat as well. No thanks!
