On a cold wintry evening, in June 1999, Belinda Williams’ 6-year-old daughter, was frightened by the dark, so her mum tucked her back into bed and read her to sleep with fairy tales.

When the child woke the next morning, her mother was not on the bed next to her, she was not in the house. Thirty-six-year-old, Belinda Williams, was nowhere to be found.

Eleven days after Belinda disappeared, bushwalkers discovered her body, dressed only in a nightshirt, dumped in scrub a short distance from her home in the Victorian country town of Buninyong.

Despite a coronial inquest and an extensive police investigation, Belinda William’s murder remains unsolved.

However, in this exclusive investigation, Victoria Police and Million Dollar Murders present new information that Belinda may well have known her killer, or killers and others know information as well.

For Belinda’s family’s sake, it’s time for those people to come forward, with a one million dollar reward on offer, for this final piece of the puzzle, to convict the murderer.

These are some of the toughest cases for detectives to solve. Million Dollar Murders will highlight the tireless effort of police in their investigations of these unsolved cases.

When there are few leads left to investigate in a case, Police turn to the public for help, offering a one million dollar reward for any new information that leads to a conviction.

Recently retired Detective Superintendent, Deborah Wallace, has been given extensive access to the case files, so MDM can take viewers inside the ongoing investigation of the most chilling murder mysteries in the country.

To help solve these crimes, Wallace interviews the detectives involved in these investigations, witnesses, and family members, hoping to spark a long-forgotten memory or a change of heart that will bring justice for the victims and their families.

All cases can be solved. They’re never cold and police never give up.

  1. You have been advertising including tonight that the Million Dollar Murder ep 6 is on tonight on Channel 9 but Wimbledon tennis is on instead. Very unhappy with this as I come from Ballarat & was very interested in watching this episode. False advertising !!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Yes Channel 9! You are very good at disappointing viewers. Promoting ‘Million Dollar Murders’ all the time, but when I go to watch it, it’s Nick Kyrgios playing tennis that not everyone wants to watch. When will this promoted show now be able to be watched? It’s not on the online 9Now app for streaming so what’s the go? Would be nice if you could run a message on screen for the scrapped programming letting us know. Thumbs down Channel 9. This is not an isolated incident either, unfortunately…..

  3. Not happy that it wasn’t on. Especially this episode as I was a friend of Belinda Williams.
I’m sure a lot of people where looking forward to watching the show

    • Yes Sharon i was dissapointed to. I live in Buninyong and i know what it did to our quiet town back then.

  4. I wanted to watch this as Belinda and her mum Shirley are family friends.
Very disappointed you didn’t advise viewers earlier.

  5. Watched the program tonight 11/07/22 very informative and sad!
I wish the Police the very best in solving this case and condolences to all the family ❤️

  6. The Police clearly know who did it based on their answers and it appears quite obvious to me as well but proving it isn’t easy when the crime scene was so contaminated and now so much time has past. I’m a genetic genealogist and know that if there is DNA evidence, it should be able to be solved, even through genetic genealogy.
