While it was a solid win, everything suffered from shrinking audiences.
A big-but-not-as-big-as-last-year season finale of The Voice Australia (765,000 avg (751,000 grand final; 779,000 winner)) on Seven is down a whopping 42% on the 2021 finale and comes in just lower than the semi-final last week. It doesn’t offer much of a boost to 7News Spotlight (276,000) though. A repeat of Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Boy (82,000) offers some quality fan service into the late night.
Seven first in both primary (24.9%) and network (32.4%) rankings.
For Nine, Celebrity Apprentice Australia (390,000) was never going to compete with Seven’s big finale however it ends up languishing in a very distant fourth place in primetime. 60 Minutes (322,000) consequently gets caught up in it, slipping even further than last week. The First 48 (121,000) and 5 Mistakes that Caught a Killer (94,000) add some police procedural interest in the later and late night.
Nine second in both primary (17.5%) and network (24.4%) rankings.
The Sunday Project (224,000 6:30pm; 354,000 7pm) does what it always does for 10 (which is very little), offering little support to MasterChef Australia (500,000) steps up to a solid second place all by its own efforts. A late change to a double repeat of FBI (228,000; 135,000) really only appeases hard core fans.
10 third in both primary (12.5%) and network (19.5%) rankings.
A busy night for the ABC, starting with the season finale Grand Designs (426,000) which slides into third in primetime, and then into a continuation of the criminally underperforming Barons (115,000), coupled with the season finale of Life (108,000). A repeat Harrow (43,000) adds little to the mix.
ABC fourth in both primary (9.9%) and network (14%) rankings.
A pretty standard Sunday night for SBS, with Voices of the Dead (160,000), and repeats of Pompeii: After the Eruption (175,000),
and Treasures of Malta (108,000).
SBS fifth in both primary (5.9%) and network (9.7%) rankings.
