Viewers of 9’s Gold Coast News will notice things looking a bit different tonight

On Friday night workers at Nine News on the Gold Coast began dismantling the set that has been in use for many years.

Although there has been some slight cosmetic changes over the past year, the change tonight will see the duratran GC background replaces with a plasma screen.

The new monitor will allow the control room to access a a live camera shot from the top of Q1 which will allow viewers to see real-time pictures of the city.

TV Blackbox understands future plans being considered involve the use of other live shots from around the Gold Coast region.
