Harry, Chris, Julie and Montana were ready to put their best plate forward as they battled it out for immunity from the first elimination.
In Thursday night’s episode, Harry, Chris and Julie picked an ingredient from underneath a cloche that they would all need to feature in their dish – baby leeks, saffron and sardines, and Montana’s cloche revealed that they would have to incorporate a deep fryer into their cook.
The judges declared Julie’s prawn and chorizo paella the standout dish of the night, winning her immunity from Sunday’s elimination.
Reflecting on her victory, Julie opened up about the tough few years she has had, and how cooking successfully in the MasterChef kitchen made her recognise that there’s more for her still to come.
With Julie safe from elimination, on Sunday the remaining 23 contestants will be cooking for their lives in the competition.
So, put down your pots, throw out your frying pans and get your jaffle makers ready, because they will be competing in MasterChef Australia’s “Great Aussie Jaffle Challenge”.
