SKY NEWS AUSTRALIA to air live coverage of the 2022 federal budget

Both Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers will be interviewed immediately after the budget is announced.

As the Federal Election looms, Sky News’ award-winning team of political reporters and commentators will bring viewers the all-important and anticipated pre-election Budget 2022 as it is handed down on March 29.

With the growing conflict between Russia and the Ukraine surging petrol prices and groceries, continued recovery efforts from recent flooding across the eastern seaboard of Australia and the third phase of the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to play havoc with the small business and tourism sector, the road to recovery as outlined by Budget 2022 could be a deciding factor for many voters ahead of the upcoming Federal Election. 

Coverage begins from 4.30pm with a budget special in Business Now with Ross Greenwood.

At 5.00pm, The Kenny Report with Chris Kenny will set the scene for the evening ahead, exploring all possibilities and ramifications from the budget.

At 6.00pm, a special 90-minute edition of Credlin anchored by award-winning columnist and commentator Peta Credlin. Peta will be joined by some of Australia’s leading financial and economic experts to breakdown the role the budget will play in the upcoming Federal Election race.

At 7:30pm, Live from the House of Representatives, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will hand down the Morrison Government’s Budget 2022.

From 5:30am, First Edition – Budget Breakfast, Peter Stefanovic anchors the morning after coverage.

Peter will be joined by Tom Connell back on the streets of Western Sydney getting a live gauge from the people that matter the most, the voters. Tom will ask the all-important question, has the budget changed their vote in the upcoming Federal Election? 

On Thursday 31 March at 7:30pm Sky News will broadcast live coverage as Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese delivers Labor’s Official Budget Reply.
