It was weak across the board. Is this as good as Thursdays will get once the footy starts proper?

Nine’s first night of the footy season and one of the few they’ll have a clear run at it. Unfortunately Current Affair (468,000) was their best by far. The season kick-off of the NRL saw the night split thus:
BNE/SYD
NRL: Thursday Night Football (389,000)
Thursday Night Knock-Off (162,000)
MEL/ADL/PER
Marvellous Moomba (104,000) <– MEL only
RBT (127,000)
Australia Behind Bars (133,000)
A+E After Dark (97,000)
Nine first in both primary (21.8%) and network (29.5%) rankings.

Seven lean into the last Thursday without footy by seeing Home & Away (453,000 7pm; 393,000 7:30pm-8:30pm Late) as their best. The finale of Showtrial (140,000) leads into The Speedboat Killer (87,000) and that’s it.
Seven second in both primary (16%) and network (24.8%) rankings.

The Project (209,000 6:30pm; 346,000 7pm) marking time for 10, while First Dates Australia (402,000) slips on last week. Gogglebox Australia (574,000) dominates the evening (and rightly so), but a repeat of Would I Lie To You? Australia (233,000) doesn’t benefit at all. New Blue Bloods (90,000) offers fan service only.
10 third in both primary (15.2%) and network (20.9%) rankings.

7:30 (440,000) continues to deliver for the ABC, just as Foreign Correspondent (277,000)
and Q+A (175,000) struggle to do much–the latter really in a mess. Rosie Batty’s One Plus One (100,000) suffers because of it, and a repeat of Griff’s Great Kiwi Road Trip (77,000) rounds out the night.
ABC fourth in both primary (9.6%) and network (15.8%) rankings.

SBS sticks to form on Thursday: Scenic Coastal Walks with Kate Humble (153,000), The Royals: Keeping the Crown (142,000), and Britain’s Most Expensive Houses (74,000).
SBS fifth in both primary (4.9%) and network (8.9%) rankings.
