The Walt Disney Company and Fair Fight Foundation have joined forces to launch the Supertee: Marvel Edition; medical garments designed to empower sick children in hospital and inspire strength through imagination.

The collaboration features two designs based on the Marvel characters, Captain America and Captain Marvel. To celebrate the launch, Marvel talent Brie Larson and Chris Hemsworth have shared special messages of support to sick children who receive a Supertee: Marvel Edition.

The Supertee is a multi-functional and comfortable medical garment designed like a superhero, giving children a psychological boost and uplifting the overall hospital experience. It was created in 2018 by a father, Jason Sotiris, who felt helpless as he sat by his daughter’s hospital bedside while she battled a rare cancer – he wanted to make her feel more comfortable and brighten her days.

Marvel superheroes have inspired generations and the Supertee: Marvel Edition allows sick children to connect with the characters’ superpowers to channel their own strength and courage during what may be their toughest battle.

MRI and PET Scan friendly, the Supertee is designed with open underarms for thermometer access, press studs evenly spaced allowing for bypass tubes and lines and accessing vital areas. The garment encourages children into the world of imaginative play and is available in sizes 1-12.

Jason Sotiris, Founder of Supertee and Fair Fight Foundation said:

“This collaboration with Disney on the Supertee: Marvel Edition is the perfect fit for Fair Fight Foundation. The Marvel designs take the Supertee to a whole new level and will empower children to connect with the bravery and strength of the superheroes they know and love.

“The idea for the Supertee came to me while comforting my daughter Angela who was being treated for a cancer called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis and I felt helpless not being able to do the simple task of putting clean clothes on her with IV drips, chest monitor cables and central lines making it impossible.

“To date, more than 13,000 Supertees have made their way into hospitals around Australia giving already brave children additional courage, but our dream is to have a Supertee available for every child that needs one.”

Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for The Walt Disney Company in Australia and New Zealand, said:

“We’re delighted to see the imagination and storytelling at the heart of Disney, and the strength and courage of our Marvel superheroes, bringing joy and comfort to children and families when it’s needed most.

“We hope this special collaboration with the Fair Fight Foundation on the Supertee: Marvel Edition uplifts the overall hospital experience and inspires kids to feel better and be brave like their favourite superheroes.

“Disney is proud to be working with children’s hospitals in Australia and around the world to reimagine and brighten hospital stays with unique and inspiring experiences for children and to help ease some of the stresses for families.”

Supertee: Marvel Edition garments will be distributed free of charge to hospitals around Australia by Fair Fight Foundation. In order to reach as many children as possible, the charity will further benefit from individuals, community groups and businesses helping to get Supertees into the hands of those who need them most.
