Ukraine, Anna Sorkin and Sarah Wynter are the main stories this week on 60 Minutes.

THE PUTIN FACTOR

As if war in Ukraine – missile attacks, jet fighters screaming overhead and tanks bullying their way through suburban streets – wasn’t already terrifying enough, the world must now also accept a sobering truth. This is just the beginning. The architect of this catastrophe, Russia’s autocratic leader Vladimir Putin, has a masterplan that doesn’t stop with punishing 44 million Ukrainian citizens.

On 60 MINUTES, Tom Steinfort speaks with experts who know the Russian leader well. They warn that with the collapse of Kyiv, Putin will look elsewhere in eastern Europe to prove his dominance. And in his very deliberate bid to wreak havoc, Putin’s not only prepared to ignore international law, but also the condemnation of the west.

FAKER’S DELIGHT

A fake, a scammer, a charlatan. Most people would shudder at the thought of being labelled a con-artist. But not Anna Sorokin. She revels in the description. And why not? Her misdeeds have not only led to fame, including a blockbuster drama series on Netflix, but also exactly what she set out to achieve – fortune.

As Liam Bartlett reports, Sorokin’s victims are baffled about how this ruthless hustler has become a hero; a celebrity whose campaign to promote herself is not even hindered by her current address – a New York prison cell.

THE PAIN OF JOY

When Australian actor Sarah Wynter answered the call of Hollywood almost two decades ago, she worked hard to make it. But make it she did, starring with some of the biggest names in some of the biggest TV shows and movies. At the top of her career though, she suddenly stepped away from the spotlight, leaving many fans wondering why.

But as Sarah Abo reports, Wynter now wants to tell the world about the dark secret she was keeping. After giving birth to twins she suffered a little known but debilitating illness, post-partum psychosis. It meant that what should have been the most joyous time of her life became the most painful.
