ABC winners and finalists at the 2022 WALKLEY AWARDS

Congratulations to the ABC journalists and teams recognised at the annual Walkley Awards.

The ABC had 15 finalists spanning a dozen categories: public service journalism, investigative journalism, coverage of community or regional affairs, sports journalism, innovation, documentary, camerawork, radio/audio news and current affairs, radio/audio feature, TV/video current affairs (short and long) and coverage of a major event or issue.

Sally Sara and Victoria Pengilley won the Walkley Award for Radio News and Current Affairs for their series of interviews about Afghanistan for ABC RN Breakfast and The World Today.

Sara, who reported from Afghanistan as an ABC correspondent, now presents The World Today.

Andy Taylor won the category for Television/Video Camerawork for his superb cinematography on Exposed: The Ghost Train Fire .

The Walkley Documentary Award went to Firestarter – The Story of Bangarr a, which told the story of the First Nations dance group.

The documentary, produced by In Films and directed by Nel Minchin and Wayne Blair , was distributed internationally by ABC Commercial.
