Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of its incoming council after today’s Annual General Meeting, Thursday 04 Nov, 2022.

SPA’s Council is comprised of producer members from across the feature film, television, documentary, immersive media and animation sectors, as well as members from service and facilities businesses. In this way SPA represents the interests of all screen businesses operating in Australia.

“I would like to thank the outgoing Council, and provide particular acknowledgement to Michael Tear who has served as President since 2016 and I look forward to working with the incoming council to be led by Tracey Vieira and Suzanne Ryan in their newly elected roles as President and Vice-President respectively,”

– said SPA CEO, Matthew Deaner.

Newly appointed President Tracey Vieira said,

“I am delighted to be elected President of Screen Producers Australia and am pleased at the opportunity to work closely with the incredible producers who are members of SPA as well as with Matt and the incredible team behind the scenes. In a rapidly evolving production environment, SPA’s role is critical and it is a great privilege to be able to contribute to the industrial and government policy work that the organisation delivers to help ensure local production remains strong and buoyant now and in the future.”

The new Screen Producers Australia Council is represented by the following members:

  • Tracey Vieira, Hoodlum Entertainment – President
  • Suzanne Ryan, SLR Productions – Vice President
  • Nathan Anderson, New Canvas – Councillor
  • Nick Murray, CJZ – Councillor
  • David Redman, Redman Entertainments – Councillor
  • Marta Dusseldorp, Archipelago Productions – Advisor
  • Aaron Fa’aoso, Lone Star Group – Advisor
  • Julia Redwood, Prospero Productions – Advisor
  • Lauren van Rensburg, KOJO – Advisor
  • Matthew Vitins, Matchbox Pictures – Advisor

Today SPA also announced a new leadership diversity development opportunity where two individuals from underrepresented groups or backgrounds who are SPA Members or connected to a SPA member business will be mentored by SPA councillors, afforded opportunities for participation in Council meetings as well as being provided opportunities to participate in bespoke activities to develop skills and experiences, with the goal of generating pathways to formally become members of Council or to pursue other leadership roles in the sector.

Individuals should have a strong interest in developing the types of leadership skills and knowledge that are sought from the Council given SPA’s functions including strategic expertise; finance and legal skills; risk management and governance; deep knowledge about the screen industry; industrial and government relations; as well as events, marketing and communications.

SPA will accept expressions of interest via a written application (no more than a 100 words) that outlines the applicant’s suitability. Applicants should also identify which underrepresented group or background they identify with. Applications will be accepted over the next two weeks until Thursday November 18, 2022 via email to [email protected].
