10 ViacomCBS Executive Vice-President and Chief Content Officer Beverly McGarvey announced to 10 staff via email today that Network Director of News Content Ross Dagan has received a call-up to the big leagues.

McGarvey paid tribute to Dagan in her e-mail for his hard work since joining the team in May 2018:

“This wonderful appointment is a testament to Ross’ unrivaled experience and passion for news, and it’s fantastic that he has been recognised in this way.

“It also highlights that we are now part of a global company and that these exciting opportunities exist within our business.”

Prior to joining 10, Dagan worked most immediately as the Executive Producer – News for Al Jazeera English for 3 years, spent time in executive roles at the Seven Network, rand TVNZ’s News and Current Affairs team, and was Director of News at 10 Brisbane and Sydney. One of his earliest roles had him working as a reporter for Seven Queensland in the 90’s.

Under Dagan’s leadership 10 has experienced significant transformation throughout 10 News First and Studio 10. He oversaw the change from a 60 minute to 90 minute bulletin, and helped drive significant growth in 10’s social and digital News offerings.

During his tenure he also had to downsize the 10 News team twice, leading to many staff cuts and a reorganisation of the company’s newsrooms which included the end of the Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane local bulletins.

Dagan moves to the US in the coming weeks. His replacement is yet to be announced.

Note: Due to an ongoing dispute regarding editorial independence, the 10 Network and its parent company ViacomCBS declined to provide assistance with the preparation of this content.
