This week the Ferrones enter the 1930s with trepidation.

As the Great Depression bites, Julian is first to lose his job. Peter is next, leaving Sienna the only family member earning a wage.

Devastated, Peter must go door to door to find work and sell the family assets. Food is scarce and the Ferrones are forced to eat every part of the animal. Offal is back on the menu and Carol tries to prevent a breakfast rebellion.

In the thick of it all the Ferrones manage to escape to the movies with acclaimed movie critic David Stratton, listen to the first ABC broadcast of the Melbourne Cup and Olivia is delighted with a homemade billy cart.

And just when they think the worst is over comes news of WWII.

What happens when you take an ordinary 2020 family back in time 120 years to immerse themselves in five decades of Australian history?

Over five episodes, join Annabel Crabb as she guides the Ferrone family back through history as they cook, eat, and live, from Australia’s Federation to the 1940s.

Production details: Further Back in Time for Dinner is a Warner Bros. International Production, produced in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
