Beloved comedian, author and two-time Archibald Prize winning artist Anh Do is heading back to the ABC, bringing his brushes and banter to a new timeslot.
Season five of the Logie-nominated series Anh’s Brush with Fame will premiere on Tuesday, 4th August at 8pm.
Over ten episodes Anh invites a fresh line-up of extraordinary Aussies to join him in his studio as he combines his artistic skills with his passion for conversation, stripping back the layers of his guests’ life while capturing them on canvas.
From media powerhouse Lisa Wilkinson to maverick Priest Father Bob Maguire, everyone has a story to tell about the people and stories that have defined them. Jockey Michelle Payne shares how she beat the odds to become the first female rider to win the Melbourne Cup, Olympic track-cycling champion Anna Meares lays bare her extraordinary story of sacrifice, triumph and loss, while 2019 Australian of the Year Dr Richard Harris recounts in gripping detail his heroic role in the rescue of the Wild Boars soccer team from the Thai cave, an event that captured the attention of the entire world. Anh delves behind the public profile of his subjects to learn about the inspirational, heart-warming and occasionally deeply emotional stories that have shaped their lives. But how will they react when he presents them with their portrait?
In this series, Anh will paint Lisa Wilkinson, Dr Richard Harris, Anna Meares, Sophie Delezio, Jack Thompson, Layne Beachley, Father Bob, Todd Sampson, Deborra Lee Furness and Michelle Payne.
ABC’s Tuesday nights continue to be the home of must-see factual entertainment, with Shaun Micallef’s On the Sauce (starts 21 July), Anh’s Brush with Fame (4 August), and, later in 2020, Fight for Planet A with Craig Reucassel and Further Back in Time For Dinner with Annabel Crabb.
