Former Labor senator Sam Dastyari has not held back in his assessment of former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, even going as far to praise the man Turnbull replaced.
Appearing on 7.30 with Leigh Sales last night, Turnbull painted himself as a Prime Minister hard done by. Australians flocked to the ABC to watch the interview with only Nine’s smash Lego Masters beating it in the ratings. The Turnbull interview beat Masterchef on Channel 10 and House Rules on Channel 7 but didn’t go down well with everyone.
Appearing in the second episode of The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show, Sam Dastyari seemed annoyed by Turnbull trying to position himself as a victim, saying;
“Malcolm is a complete and utter fraud and it’s always only about Malcolm,”
Dastyari says Turnbull didn’t hold to his values while in office because he didn’t have any. To back up his claim Dastyari recounted a story he was told about Turnbull’s appearance on the ABC’s Kitchen Cabinet. Apparently the shoot was boring and lacked any excitement while the then Prime Minister was asked about his agenda. But Dastyari says that all changed when host Annabel Crabb asked what it was like being Prime Minister. That’s when he lit up says Dastyari;
“Bang, he was on. That was the only thing that excited him.”
In response to Turnbull’s claims that Chief of Staff Peta Credlin was running the country, not Tony Abbott, Dastyari says there is some truth;
Well, as much as any one person can, yes. Peta Credlin had an extraordinary amount of power, it was delegated power from the prime minister and I think the unfortunate thing with Peta is that there were legitimate concerns against Peta and there was also sexism. And when the two got mixed together it became quite unholy.
Whatever you think of the man, the interview was a hit for the ABC and showed Australia is still interested in hearing what Malcolm Turnbull has to say.

FFS …FIX YOUR SOUND…get an audio operator at least….the music is WAAAAYYY too loud and needs to fade out quicker…
Hi Scobie, there are absolutely some things we are still working out but appreciate you taking the time to come back to us. No excuses, but with new technology there is no doubt we are still finding our way.
Cheers, Rob
