Network 10 have halted production on their only Aussie drama FIVE BEDROOMS this week due to Coronavirus fears for the cast and crew.
The quirky drama centres around 5 people co-owning and living in a house together, each bringing their own relationship baggage and supporting each other in life. The series premiered in May 2019 to a warm enough response from viewers to warrant the network calling a second season in October 2019. Production had been underway for a few weeks and will mean most of the cast and crew join the ever-growing list of Arts community members losing their livelihood due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hoodlum Executive Producer Nathan Mayfield said:
“While no cast or crew member has been diagnosed with COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to temporarily halt filming due to myriad logistic challenges.”
“We thank our amazing family of cast and crew for their tremendous co-operation in these extraordinary times. While they return to their own homes for an early hiatus, we will continue with post-production on the episodes already filmed for season two.”
The drama, created for 10 by Christine Bartlett and Michael Lucas, was due for mid-Q2 2020. 10 are said to be scrambling as the show is very unlikely to meet that commitment leaving the network in a precarious position with an up to 8-week primetime hole in their schedule.
