Step ‘Further Back In Time for Dinner’ with Annabel Crabb

After the huge success of Back in Time for Dinner, in 2020 Annabel Crabb and the Ferrone family will be heading Further Back In Time for Dinner to delve even deeper into Australia’s culture and history.

Currently in production, Further Back in Time For Dinner will see the time-travelling Ferrone family go further back than they’ve ever gone before, to the turn of the 20th century, to discover how the food we ate helped define the modern Australian family.

Over five episodes they’ll experience firsthand the moments in our history which shaped us for better or worse, such as battling the bubonic plague, living through two world wars, the Great Depression, the Federation of Australia as well as the White Australia Policy, the consequences of which continue to challenge us.

For Further Back In Time for Dinner, we’d like the Australian public to help us bring the series to life by sharing family stories, mementos, photographs, films or family recipes from the decades of the 1900’s to the 1940’s.

Josie Mason Campbell, ABC Head of Entertainment and Factual said: “We are thrilled to see Annabel and the Ferrone family return to our screens in the sequel to the incredibly popular series Back in Time for Dinner. This series promises to challenge the Ferrones in more extreme ways as they experience first-hand, life at the turn of the century, and how it has shaped our contemporary nation. The ABC are looking forward to working with the excellent team at Warner Bros. on this production”.

Shaun Murphy Head of Television Warner Bros. International said: “The Ferrone family immersed themselves once, going Back in Time For Dinner and are now prepared to go one step Further Back In Time. The Team and the Ferrone’s are also excited that the public have the opportunity to share their stories through family recipes, photographs or film from this era.”

Further Back in Time for Dinner is a Warner Bros. International Production, produced in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Host: Annabel Crabb, Executive Producer: Penny McWhirter, ABC Commissioning Editor: Julie Hanna, ABC Head of Entertainment and Factual: Josie Mason-Campbell.

  1. Really loved the first series, and the delightful Ferrone family and compere Annabel. Looking forward to this new season!

  2. Will be very interesting to see how the interior of the house will change & the whole step back to the start of the century! Great viewing!

  3. It’s still an intriguing series and a great history lesson to boot. I can remember my mother talk about her life with her siblings and did the same household chores in the 20-30’s as in the 1900’s. Cooking and laundry were on top of the list then cleaning. It all had to be done by hand and from scratch.

  4. Please tell me where to find the recipes from the show Further Back in Time for Dinner ABC 2020. I would like the Coffee dream, Pineapple sago, Pasta featured on the very last show. PLEASE!

  5. I am also after the same recipes as Jarod has requested above please – we loved the show and we are keen for the recipes! Thanks so much, Colette
