A live broadcast of the Uluru climb closure celebrations will take place on 27th October 2019. The two and a half hour special, NITV News:  Live Coverage from Uluru Climb Closure, will capture the speeches and traditional ceremonies that are to take place at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku.

The broadcast will be hosted from Anangu country at Uluru by The Point hosts Rachael Hocking and John Paul Janke and NITV correspondent Ryan Liddle.

The hosts will look back at the history of Uluru and forward to the future as the Anangu invite the nation to experience the rock from their perspective, through traditional practices such as Inma.

On Wednesday 30 October at 8.30pm, NITV’s flagship news and current affairs program The Point will air their series finale which will recapture the ceremonies while exploring the tumultuous history of the climb.

NITV Channel Manager, Tanya Orman, said “We are exceptionally proud to televise this historic moment. It’s been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to celebrate alongside the Anangu people.

NITV has delivered comprehensive coverage on this topic in the lead up to the closure, and I hope that Australia will join us on Sunday as we come together to remember the past and look forward to the future.”
