A one-sided 2018 NRL Grand Final between the Sydney Roosters and the Melbourne Storm has lead the Nine Network to a ratings win on Sunday night.
A national peak audience 3.445 million tuned in to watch the game, that figure includes a metro peak of 2.373 million, and 1.071 million across regional markets.
The national average audience for the telecast was 3.034 million (5 City: 2.122 million / Regional: 911,000). That figure is down significantly on the 2017 Grand Final which had a national average of 3.399 million (5 City: 2.325 million / Regional: 1.074 million).
An additional 44,500 viewers streamed the match online via 9Now.
In fact based on national average figures, last nights broadcast was the lowest rating NRL Grand Final since 2008. On Saturday afternoon the nail-biting AFL Grand Final had a national average of 3.378 million, a figure which was well ahead of the NRL, but also a ten year low for the AFL.
In Sydney, last night’s game had an average audience of 895k (813k – 2017), followed by 551k (644k – 2017) in Melbourne, and 488k (671k – 2017) in Brisbane.
