The wait is almost over for (one of) HBO’s biggest Sunday night shows, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver – a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events – Season 4 premieres exclusively on The Comedy Channel Mondays from February 13 at 9pm Express from the US and only Foxtel.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver provides its likeable host with a unique platform to offer up his singular perspective and distinct voice to any number of social, political or existential issues. The show provides a deft combination of news, irreverence and humour, as hosted by one of TV’s true breakout stars. One of the funniest and most refreshing personalities to hit the TV scene, British-born John Oliver is an Emmy®-winning television personality who the New York Observer called, “the best thing to happen to late night since Colbert.”

Each episode draws upon an array of topical clips from recent news reports and other video sources, and an extended main story in which Oliver “rants” about a specific issue – particularly ones that may be under-covered in mainstream news. Last Week Tonight may also feature guest interviews, pre-taped segments and surprise appearances, all shot in New York within hours of airing on HBO and then on Foxtel Express from the US.

Self-deprecating British writer/comedian/actor, John Oliver spent over seven years as one of Jon Stewart’s most popular and controversial Daily Show correspondents before leaving in late 2013 to work with HBO on Last Week Tonight. Since its launch in 2014, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has generated immense buzz since and is a darling of the critics winning numerous awards including from the Television Critics Association, Critic’s Choice, Emmys and a Peabody Award, among many other accolades over the years.
