The Nine Network have confirmed that their new drama series DOCTOR DOCTOR will return in 2017 for its second season.
Announced this morning by stars Rodger Corser and Nic da Silva on The Today Show live from Bondi Beach, this news is a ringing endorsement from the Network for their fledgling drama after only two episodes.
The series has delivered solid ratings in the Wednesday night timeslot and sees a welcome return to Australian drama for Nine which has had a difficult year maintaining a primetime audience.
In a joint statement, Nine’s Heads of Drama, Jo Rooney and Andy Ryan, said: “We are delighted with how Australian audiences have fallen in love with Doctor Doctor, an incredible cast and a story full of heart. We are looking forward to working with Essential Media & Entertainment on series two.”
Ian Collie from Essential Media & Entertainment said: “We love how the national audience has taken to Doctor Doctor. It’s a show with heart and smarts and thrilled that Nine are backing us to go again. Roll on season two!”
The series also stars Tina Bursill, Ryan Johnson, Steve Bisley & Shalom Brune-Franklin. The third episode airs 8:40 on Nine this evening.
