SBS 2’s coverage of the new A-League season kicks off on Friday October 7 at 7.30pm (AEST) with a clash between Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory; the league’s two most successful teams.

Both teams have won the championship title three times and will go head-to-head on October 7, live from Suncorp Stadium.  A Grand Final rematch in Adelaide showcases week two, before returning Socceroo star Tim Cahill takes centre stage on Friday, October 21.

Cahill’s move to Melbourne City sees him playing club football in Australian for the first time in two decades; and SBS 2 will showcase the Socceroo legend with ten Melbourne City matches throughout the season, including three in the first five weeks.

Cahill joins a host of new stars in the league including his Socceroo teammates James Troisi and James Holland, former Premier League star Rhys Williams and 2010 World Cup goalscorer Brett Holman who has joined Brisbane Roar.

The weekly Friday night match coverage will be once again hosted by Socceroo and former A-League Champion David Zdrilic along with chief football analyst, Socceroo Craig Foster.

Match commentary each week will be provided by David Basheer and former Premier League star Michael Bridges. Reporter Lucy Zelic will be pitch side at each match with player and coach interviews as well as updates throughout the night.

Following the Friday match, football aficionados can also catch up with SBS’s flagship football highlights show The World Game (Monday night’s, SBS). Lucy Zelic takes you through the best A-League and Premier League highlights as well as bring you the latest news from around the globe.

The Hyundai A-League is live and free on Fridays, 7.30pm (AEDT) on SBS 2 and www.sbs.com.au/TheWorldGame from October 7.
