On Monday night’s show, host Tommy Little and team captains Pat Cash and Eamon Sullivan are joined by boxing legend Jeff Fenech, world swimming champion Christian Sprenger and comedians Joel Creasey and Celia Pacquola.
We all know that athletes follow weird and wonderful pre-game rituals, and no doubt they all have a few tricks up their sleeves to help with performance.
Inspired by one of the quiz questions, Pat Cash reveals that one of the strangest remedies he used to use, and still uses, to stop his eyes getting sore on bright tennis courts is to splash urine in his eyes. According to Pat: “It’s a urine therapy, something they used a long time ago, for thousands of years, the Yogis used to do it. You pee in the shower, you just splash some in your eyes, quick for a second, and then you wash it out. Your eyes absorb some chemicals and the nutrients…and it works.”
But Pat isn’t the only one to praise the unusual benefits of urine. Jeff Fenech reveals on the show that the secret method he used to help heal a broken sternum was a towel soaked in his baby son’s urine, applied to the area every day.
A League of Their Own. Monday, October 21, at 7.30pm. On TEN.
