Foxtel is adding another blast from the past to its music offering, with a fresh Vevo channel joining the lineup alongside a broader reshuffle of its music stations.
The update brings a dedicated 80s stream into the mix from early next month, while reshuffling channel numbers to make it easier to navigate between decades as the platform continues refining its streaming led music experience.
The refreshed line up places Vevo 2K on channel 810, Vevo 90s on 811 and the new Vevo 80s on 812, followed by Vevo 70s on 813, Vevo Rock on 814, Vevo Pop on 815 and Vevo Country on 816.
It follows a broader shake up of Foxtel’s music offering last year, triggered by Paramount’s global shutdown of its MTV branded and other channels, which left the platform needing a replacement line up.
Foxtel responded by rolling out a new locally curated line up including the return of channels like Max and CMC, alongside an expanded mix of VEVO and partner led music channels.
While the addition fills a notable gap in the decade based offering, VEVO content is also widely accessible via platforms like YouTube and Samsung TV Plus, raising questions around its added value for subscribers.
