Western Australian Thoroughbred Racing will air nationally from July 2 under a new broadcasting deal with Racing.com.
Western Australia’s thoroughbred racing calendar will soon reach a broader national audience, following the confirmation of a multi-year broadcasting agreement between Racing WA and Racing Victoria.
Under the new deal, announced on Wednesday, Racing.com will begin televising WA meetings from the Northam race day on Wednesday, July 2. The agreement will see Western Australia’s races integrated into Racing.com’s existing schedule, which already includes coverage from Victoria, South Australia, Hong Kong and selected international meetings.
Key Points
- Racing.com will begin broadcasting WA thoroughbred racing from July 2, starting with the Northam meeting
- The partnership adds WA coverage to a national free-to-air and digital racing platform, joining Victoria and South Australia
- All WA races will continue to be available via racingwa.com.au and the TABtouch app
The agreement will see Racing WA’s on-course broadcast elements — including presenters, pre- and post-race analysis — carried on Racing.com’s free-to-air channel and digital platforms such as 7plus, Kayo, and the Racing.com website and app.
Racing Victoria’s Executive General Manager of Media, Content and Marketing, Andy Hoad, said the addition of WA content enhances Racing.com’s value to viewers.
“We’re delighted to welcome WA thoroughbred racing onto Racing.com and we expect it to be embraced by punters nationwide, who can now continue to enjoy quality live racing once the action has finished on the east coast,”
“Racing.com boasts an amazing suite of racing. From the very best Victoria has to offer, be that our Group 1s or beloved Country Cups, to elite racing from Hong Kong and the UK, through to all the great action from South Australia and now Western Australia.”
The announcement follows closely behind a separate deal struck earlier this month between Racing Victoria and the Seven Network, which will see Racing.com remain a free-to-air, 24/7 racing channel for another five years from July 1, 2025.
The inclusion of Western Australian content is seen as a strategic extension of Racing.com’s national footprint.
“Racing.com plays a pivotal role showcasing Victorian thoroughbred racing nationally and our partnerships with other states help build audience and engagement through our breadth of content,”
Hoad added.
“The team at Racing WA are great to work with. They have high production standards and our ability to tap into their quality pictures and insights makes this an efficient and exciting expansion for Racing.com.
The Racing.com audience can be assured of a fantastic coverage from some spectacular racetracks in the west each Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, along with other selected days throughout the year.”
David Hunter, Chief Racing Officer at Racing WA, said the new partnership would provide a significant boost in visibility for the state’s racing product.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Racing.com to further expose Western Australian thoroughbred racing to a national audience,”
“Racing.com’s coverage of Victorian and South Australian racing is great, so we’re delighted to now join those states in showcasing the quality and diversity of WA racing to more viewers than ever before.
From Kununurra in the state’s north to Albany more than 3550km south, WA’s racing landscape is truly unique and we’re confident Racing.com’s audience will enjoy every moment of it.”
WA racing will remain available through racingwa.com.au and the TABtouch mobile application, with Racing.com’s platforms providing an additional distribution channel for both live broadcasts and editorial coverage.
