TV Blackbox can reveal which network will produce an Australian version of the international hit.
Despite Channel 10 turning its back on The Bachelor franchise in May (along with The Masked Singer), Channel 9 is set to introduce Australian audiences to the newest spinoff (or should that be oldest?) – The Golden Bachelor.
The series – introduced by ABC in America – evolved The Bachelor franchise by casting 72-year-old Gerry Turner, a retired restaurateur and widower. The finale in December last year reached 6.1 million viewers and was the biggest ‘Bachelor’ episode in three years.
The series was so popular ABC aired the wedding as a live special called The Golden Wedding (although the couple divorced three months later),
It had been assumed Channel 10 would commission this version of the format, but the network decided not to renew any version of the the ‘Bachelor’ franchise.
TV Blackbox can reveal Nine will formally announce The Golden Bachelor at its annual UPFRONTS event in October.
The network refused to be drawn on any programming announcements for 2025 when contacted.
Will Channel 9 also get the original The Bachelor & or The Bachelorette.??
More crap!
