After 15 years with the Seven Network, 7 News Early presenter Jodie Speers announced late this week that she was leaving the network to pursue a new career in law.
The news of Speers exit comes as Seven looks to make other changes within its news & current affairs line-up, with the network replacing their 5:00am early news bulletin from Monday 25th March with an extended version of popular breakfast show Sunrise.
Online TV Guides now show a 30 minute early version of Sunrise airing at 5:00am with the description “Wake up to a better breakfast with Edwina Bartholomew for all the latest news, sport and weather“, followed by the regular version of Sunrise presented by Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington at 5:30am.
Taking to Instagram to share the news of her departure, Jodie wrote:
“The end of an era! I didn’t expect to feel so emotional today!”
“This job has given me so much over the past 15yrs. From a stint in Federal Parliament, another one in the courts, and everything from crime scenes to red carpets, bushfires to brain surgeries, every day was different.”
“For the last year or so, I’ve been chipping away at a law degree and am now looking forward to finishing my JD and getting back to court in a different capacity!”
Other recent changes at Seven include relocating production and presentation of late news bulletin ‘The Latest‘ to Perth in a further effort to increase efficiencies within the news & current affairs department, with regular presenter Michael Usher exiting the bulletin.
