In news that has shocked many this week, including family, friends and former colleagues, it was revealed that Studio 10 Reporter Jesse Baird had been allegedly killed, alongside new partner Luke Davies.
Jesse was well known for his time working at Channel 10 for the last 7 years, starting out at TVQ in Brisbane as a Presenter & Producer on the now axed children’s TV program Totally Wild before going on to host live action video game series Gamify!.
He then joined the Studio 10 team as a Queensland based Reporter, later relocating to Sydney in early 2021 and joining the show full-time as a Producer and Presenter, where he was regularly on the road filing stories for the morning show.
With Studio 10 being axed in late 2023, Jesse co-hosted some of the last episodes of the program before deciding to leave the network in early 2024 to pursue other opportunities this year, including his love for AFL where he was a goal umpire for the game.
Jesse took to LinkedIn a few short weeks ago where he posted a near 3 minute showreel of his time and highlights from working on the Channel 10 morning show over the last 3 years, which you can view here.
Several former colleagues from Network 10 have paid tribute to Baird, including former Studio 10 Roving Reporter and friend Daniel Doody who took to Instagram to write:
“My loving thoughts go to Jesse Baird and Luke Davies’ family and friends.”
“Just like so many, I am truly devastated. I am hurting so much inside.”
“Jesse, you were like a brother to me. Life can be so unfair.”
“But I’m going to show and tell the world how much you were loved.”
“I will love you always, my friend, my brother”
Former colleague and 10 News First Entertainment Editor Angela Bishop saying:
“What he had achieved already, by the age of 26, meant that whatever he was going to do in the future was going to be absolutely incredible.”
“You wanted to watch him, cause that warmth came right through the screen and those of us that worked with him on a personal basis knew that warmth up-close, and we’re lucky, we’re really lucky that we had that”.
Also lost in this tragedy was Jesse’s new partner Luke Davies who had recently relocated to Sydney and started up a relationship with Jesse, the pair posting about their adventures together on social media at a winery, out hiking, and recently attending a Pink concert together in Sydney.
I, like many others have known Luke for a number of years, and he was well known here in Brisbane where hails from and will be remembered for his infectious energy, friendship, love of life and all things travelling, tennis, and Survivor.
Both men are now being remembered for being full of life and kind souls, as family, friends and the wider community begin to process the tragic events of the last week which have shocked so many people and changed their lives forever.

How devastating is this news about Jessie and his partner Luke. As an avid viewer of studio 10, I would see Jessie and he was just a delightful presenter and one could see he would have had a long and incredible career in anything he did. I am so sad to think that not only Jessie but his partner Luke have obviously lost their lives by someone who was insanely jealous of their happiness. Life is so precious and their lives have been taken so young. I feel so sad for their families. This is a tragedy. 😔
