Kirsten Drysdale’s Son Gets a New Name, Bidding Farewell to ‘Methamphetamine Rules’

In a recent turn of events, ABC journalist Kirsten Drysdale has successfully changed her son’s name, erasing the controversial ‘Methamphetamine Rules’ from his birth certificate. This comes four months after the unconventional name made headlines.

Drysdale and her husband Chris initially named their son ‘Methamphetamine Rules’ while Drysdale was engaged in a segment for ABC’s WTFAQ program.

The segment aimed to explore the limits of legal baby naming. To their surprise, the name was legally accepted, leading to widespread criticism on social media for seemingly exploiting the newborn for television.

“We thought we would submit the most outrageous name we could think of, assuming it would be rejected,” Drysdale commented.

“But it didn’t turn out that way – unfortunately, Methamphetamine Rules slipped through the cracks”.

Births, Deaths and Marriages acknowledged the oversight, stating that the unusual name had “unfortunately slipped through”. They confirmed enhancements to their registry process in light of this incident.

Appearing on Network 10’s The Project, Drysdale revealed the resolution of this issue.

“That name has been removed. It no longer is on his birth certificate,” she stated. “He has a new birth certificate with his real name”.

While Drysdale opted not to disclose her son’s new name, she humorously remarked to host Sarah Harris that she wouldn’t be bringing methamphetamines to any Christmas parties.
