Stan, Australia’s leading platform for original productions, has unveiled the much-anticipated trailer for the second season of “The Tourist.”
The series, acclaimed for its first season, will see the return of Jamie Dornan, known for his roles in “Belfast” and “The Fall,” alongside Danielle Macdonald from “Unbelievable” and “Dumplin.”
This six-part thriller is the brainchild of creators and writers Jack and Harry Williams, recognized for their work on “The Missing,” “Baptiste,” and “Fleabag.” Produced by the distinguished Two Brothers Pictures, “The Tourist” promises to maintain its high-caliber storytelling and suspenseful narrative.
Set in the stunning Irish landscape, the story revolves around the characters Elliot (played by Dornan) and Helen (portrayed by Macdonald). The duo faces both allies and adversaries as they delve into the mysteries of Elliot’s past. Their journey leads them into a deep-seated family feud, exposing them to the perilous repercussions of Elliot’s former life.
Season two introduces several new characters, enriching the narrative with fresh dynamics. Detective Ruairi Slater, portrayed by Conor MacNeill, joins the cast alongside Olwen Fouéré as Niamh Cassidy. The McDonnell family, a pivotal element in the new season, includes Donal (Diarmaid Murtagh), Orla (Nessa Matthews), Fergal (Mark McKenna), and Frank (Francis Magee).
The series is a collaborative production by Two Brothers Pictures for the BBC, in association with Stan, ZDF, and All3Media International. The direction team features Fergus O’Brien and Johann Perry, with Lisa Mulcahy and Kate Dolan directing subsequent blocks. The production team includes Alex Mercer as producer and Louise Kiely as casting director.
The executive production team comprises Harry and Jack Williams, Sarah Hammond, and Daniel Walker from Two Brothers Pictures, along with Nawfal Faizullah for the BBC. Stan’s executive producers are Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie, with international sales managed by All3Media International.
“The Tourist” joins Stan’s exceptional summer lineup, which includes the Stan Original Film “Jones Family Christmas,” the latest season of “Bump,” “Prosper” starring Richard Roxburgh and Rebecca Gibney, and “Revealed: Ben Roberts-Smith Truth on Trial.”
