Network 10’s “The Bachelors” Returns with a Trio of Love-Seekers

In a move that might remind one of a hastily arranged Christmas raffle, Network 10 has brought back “The Bachelors” in December. Despite its questionable quality, the show retains its full array of bells and whistles. This season, the network persists with the perplexing format of featuring three bachelors simultaneously.

Wesley, a theology student and model, joins the fray with a philosophical bent. He expresses a preference for clumsy women, citing life’s inherent nature of making mistakes.

Ben, another model with a rumoured feud with Zac Efron, adds to the mix of suitors. His Google search results hint at a backstory that the show’s time constraints might not fully explore.

The third bachelor, Luke, stands out with his more traditional occupation as a lumberjack. His profession adds a dash of rugged charm to the ensemble. Luke vocalizes his desire for a lifelong partner, a concept that seems at odds with the show’s historical outcomes.

The trio’s arrival was announced amidst much fanfare by the show’s host, Osher Günsberg, who claims this season to be the most romantic yet. This bold declaration comes despite the show’s history of controversial outcomes, such as the Sam Frost and Blake Garvey scandal.

The season’s introduction suggests a possible deviation from the usual format, with a black screen and a single piano note creating a sense of mystery. The tagline “We begin… at the end,” hints at a narrative twist, potentially elevating this season beyond its predecessors in terms of dramatic intrigue.

The three bachelors are presented in a grand manner, evoking imagery of butlers in a period drama. Each bachelor reveals a bit about their quest for love, with one expressing his desire for a relationship that defies odds, while another openly discusses his longing for true love.

The first episode introduces various contestants, including McKenna in a pink puffy dress, described as “glamorize” and hailing from Queensland. The bachelors seem to vie for her attention, leading to a series of uneventful conversations.

Luke quickly shifts his attention to Ella, a blonde bombshell. Their swift connection results in an impromptu makeout session, signifying a fast-paced romantic development.

The episode also hints at a potential villain in Lisa, who seems to lurk in the background with self-assured comments about her attractiveness.

Other contestants, such as Anastasia and Holly, bring additional dynamics to the show. Anastasia finds herself at the center of a joke about being a stripper, which she vehemently denies. Holly, on the other hand, engages in a slow dance with Ben, seemingly overshadowing her earlier interaction with Wesley.

Yasmine, another contestant, exits the show early, citing her conservative nature as the reason. This departure aligns with the unpredictable nature of the series.

As the episode progresses, other contestants like Brea and Angela also emerge with their unique personalities and interactions with the bachelors.

The rose ceremony concludes the episode, with the usual suspense and drama. The elimination of some contestants leaves others in a state of reflection and anticipation for what the future holds in the mansion.

This season of “The Bachelors” promises to be a blend of romantic aspirations, strategic maneuvering, and the unpredictability that has come to define the franchise. With its mix of diverse personalities and potential plot twists, viewers can expect a season filled with both romantic and dramatic developments.

The Bachelors continues 7:30pm Monday on Channel 10 and 10play
