7plus Gears Up for a Sizzling Summer of Entertainment and Sports

The Seven Network’s streaming service, 7plus, is all set to heat up the Australian summer with a rich array of content. This includes exclusive international series, high-profile movies, and a diverse sports line-up, ensuring something for every viewer.

Adam Brody, Martin Freeman, Ron Perlman, and Mira Sorvino headline the much-anticipated US series Startup. Adding to the excitement is Monsterland, a gripping anthology horror series. Fans of The Voice UK and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins can look forward to new seasons. The US reality series Frogger also joins the summer roster.

Further diversifying the offering, 7plus will feature the US detective comedy-drama Psych, the British drama Jamestown, and the science fiction-thriller The Event, starring Jason Ritter and Laura Innes. Police procedural drama Gone, with Chris Noth, Leven Rambin, and Danny Pino, alongside the British thriller Midnight Man featuring James Nesbitt, will also be available.

In a nostalgic move, the first season of Home and Away has been added to 7plus’s FAST channel lineup. This inclusion strengthens the platform’s commitment to Australian content, with over 30 of its 50 FAST channels exclusively hosting popular local programs like Better Homes and Gardens, Border Security, and Home and Away.

Movie enthusiasts can anticipate a summer filled with blockbusters such as Men In Black International, Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, Spiderman: Far From Home, 1917, Zombieland, Hotel Transylvannia, Peter Rabbit, and The Smurfs.

Sports coverage is extensive on 7plus, featuring events like the AFLW Grand Final on December 3, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race on Boxing Day, and the Santos Tour Down Under.

Other highlights include Magic Millions, Night Thunder Sprintcars, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Race, the WSL Championship Tour Stop 1 from Hawaii, LIV Golf, and MMA. Regular horse racing, NFL games, and the highly anticipated Super Bowl LVIII on February 12, 2024, are also part of the lineup.

Brook Hall, Seven’s Director of Content Scheduling, emphasized the platform’s diverse summer offerings.

“It’s going to be an exciting summer on 7plus, with great new and exclusive drama and reality series and an incredible and diverse line-up of sport.

It’s been a big year for 7plus and we can’t wait to rollout our summer schedule. More than 70% of the content on 7plus is exclusive to it and almost 60% of all viewing coming from non-broadcast programming – with all content accessible to Australians for free.”

7plus has seen remarkable growth, streaming 14.2 billion minutes this year and registering a 21% year-on-year increase in BVOD and 22% in live streaming.

The platform broke records with the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ Semi Final, attracting 957,000 viewers, and the AFL Grand Final, drawing 441,000 viewers on 7plus – the highest ever for an AFL match on a streaming platform.

Rachel Page, Seven’s Network Digital Sales Director, highlighted the future potential of 7plus.

“7plus’ live streaming will soar next year, with full digital rights to the AFL kicking in from September next year.

The following month cricket arrives on 7plus, making it the first time Australia’s biggest winter and summer sports have been made available to stream for free to Australians.

Together, the AFL and cricket will represent four billion new minutes of viewing on 7plus a year. That is the equivalent in minutes of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and FIFA Women’s World Cup combined – not 17 days or five weeks but 52 weeks of the year, every year.

It’s a whole new ball game, for Seven, for sport fans and for our commercial partners.”
