Wednesday Ratings | THE BLOCK rules primetime; SEVEN takes the night

The ABC’s Comedy Wednesday very much in need of some love to lift it back to where it was.


Channel 7

Home & Away (475,000) and SAS Australia (402,000) remain competitive however unable to pip the shows in first place for Seven. The Amazing Race (US) (135,000) lifts to take its timeslot before Autopsy USA (67,000) closes out the night.

Seven first in both primary (20%) and network (29.5%) rankings.

Channel 9

Nine take a rare mid-week win. A Current Affair (608,000) remained in a solid first place, as does The Block (574,000). Luxe Listings (193,000) saw the audience fall away, though a fascinated few stopped by for a repeat of Botched (89,000). The Equalizer (42,000) kept a dedicated audience into the late evening.

Nine second in both primary (19.8%) and network (28%) rankings.


ABC

7:30 (459,000) and Hard Quiz (464,000) continued to bat well above their weight in primetime before the season finale of Mother and Son (254,000) and the third-last episode of WTFAQ (220,000) brought in a reasonable audience. The season three final of Starstruck (100,000) dropped into repeats of Would I Lie To You? (64,000) and Death in Paradise (37,000).

ABC third in both primary (12.2%) and network (18.4%) rankings.


Channel 10

The Project (173,000 6:30pm; 253,000 7pm) didn’t slide as much as it usually does, in part for the success of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition (332,000), which is doing very consistent for 10. Heat (125,000) isn’t as successful on linear broadcast, though neither us US dramedy So Help Me Todd (52,000).

10 fourth in both primary (9.5%) and network (15.8%) rankings.

SBS

The quiet nights continue for SBS, and it started with Sri Lanka with Alexander Armstrong (110,000) before flipping to a double ep of While the Men Are Away (65,000)–which is doing pretty good business on catch-up/Total TV. Elvis’ Women (70,000) finished out the night (as they did then, too).

SBS fifth in both primary (4.1%) and network (8.2%) rankings.


KEY DEMOS

16-39: The Block (122,000) led Nine News 6pm/6:30pm, Seven News 6:30pm, and A Current Affair.

18-49: The Block (190,000) beat Seven News 6:30pm, Nine News 6pm/6:30pm, and Seven News 6pm.

25-54: The Block (239,000) landed the triple-demo win again, followed by Seven News 6:30pm, Nine News 6:30pm/6pm, and Seven News 6pm.


MULTI-CHANNELS

Highway Patrol – PM rpt (111,000) lands a multi-channel win for 7mate.

No changes to the previous week’s primetime line-up after the Total TV figures were added: The Block (Nine) lifted 40% to The Block,000; The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition (10) lifted 45% to 909,000; and The Voice – Road to the Grand Finale (Seven) lifted 22% to 529,000.

The BVOD best were The Block (250,000), The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition (148,000), Home and Away (135,000), and RFDS (133,000).
