Netflix has confirmed its plans for the upcoming release of the final instalment of its hit series, The Crown.

The popular historical drama, renowned for its riveting portrayal of the British royal family, albeit with a fictionalised touch, is set to conclude with its sixth season.

Fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this epic saga in two parts, with the initial four episodes premiering on 16 November, while the subsequent four episodes are slated for 14 December.

In a promotional teaser, the streaming giant showcased the progression of Queen Elizabeth II’s depiction throughout the series. Claire Foy and Olivia Colman, both of whom have previously donned the regal mantle, reminisced about their on-screen duties.

This poignant reflection culminated in the introduction of Imelda Staunton, the latest to portray the monarch. A memorable scene from the clip displayed Staunton’s silhouette set against a jubilant crowd, underscoring the Queen’s profound influence and stature.

The narrative arc of The Crown‘s fifth season delved deep into the aftermath of the separation of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales. A significant highlight from that season was the portrayal of Diana’s candid conversation with journalist Martin Bashir for the BBC.

The forthcoming season promises to traverse some monumental moments in recent royal history. The tragic 1997 car accident in Paris, which resulted in the untimely demise of Princess Diana, Henri Paul (the driver), and Dodi Fayed – the latter being portrayed developing a close bond with Diana in the previous season – will be a pivotal event.

Additionally, season six is anticipated to shed light on Tony Blair‘s tenure as the UK Prime Minister, as well as the budding relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The ensemble cast for the final season comprises esteemed actors, including Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Ed McVey as Prince William, Luther Ford as Prince Harry, Meg Bellamy as Kate Middleton, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Phillip, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker-Bowles.
