My Kitchen Rules (MKR) shakes things up with new Gatecrasher Teams and the return of Nigella Lawson.
In a tantalising twist on the classic format, Channel Seven’s hit reality cooking show My Kitchen Rules (MKR) is set to introduce three new teams of ‘gatecrashers’ on Monday, 18 September at 7:30pm. These fresh faces will join the original three teams who are cooking for redemption in the second round of Instant Restaurants.
Original Teams Ready for Redemption
Radha and Prabha, identical twins from New South Wales, have already secured their spot in the Semi-Finals after topping the leaderboard with an impressive score of 87 out of 110. Tommy and Rach, hailing from Western Australia, are also comfortably placed for the Quarter-Finals with a score of 78. However, Coco and Pearls, the friends from New South Wales, saw their culinary journey come to an abrupt end, bowing out with a low score of 50.
Sonia and Marcus, a mother-son duo from South Australia, Nick and Christian, the Victorian food maestros, and Claudean and Anthony, the married battlers from Queensland, all have another shot at proving themselves as they cook for redemption.
Meet the Gatecrasher Teams
Aaron and Chris: BBQ Connoisseurs
The first gatecrasher team to look out for are Aaron and Chris, an intriguing duo from South Australia and New South Wales, respectively. Aaron is an ex-butcher who now commands a significant following on Australia’s largest BBQ-centric YouTube channel.
His partner Chris abandoned a bustling corporate career to embrace the role of a stay-at-home dad. The two originally bonded over Instagram and have since collaborated on numerous BBQ competitions around Australia.
While Aaron’s first dish was a simple “Spaghetti bolognese,” Chris kicked off his cooking journey with “Pikelets with jam and cream.”
Amber and Mel: Childhood Friends with a Competitive Streak
Representing New South Wales, Amber and Mel are childhood friends whose cooking is as energetic as their personalities.
Amber grew up baking with her Nana and identifies as “Fun, bubbly, warm, reliable and honest.” Mel, on the other hand, learned to cook through her family and self-education.
Her go-to dish is “Chicken, halloumi, honey, thyme with rocket salad,” indicating a fusion of her Australian and Lebanese background.
Patricija and Brigita: Sisters with Diverse Personalities
Rounding out the new arrivals are Patricija and Brigita, sisters from Queensland who share Lithuanian heritage but diverge significantly in personalities.
Patricija, a criminal defence solicitor, is looking for “an opportunity to spend time with my sister, and to learn from talented contestants and the judges.” Brigita, her more easy-going sibling, views MKR as a chance to “meet new people and make friends, spend time with my sister, travel around Australia and taste some delicious home-cooked meals.”
Star-Studded Judging Panel
Elevating the culinary competition to new heights, celebrated British chef Nigella Lawson will grace the Kitchen HQ alongside established judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge for the show’s final rounds.
Current Leaderboard Status:
- Radha and Prabha: 87/110
- Tommy and Rach: 78/110
- Sonia and Marcus: 71/110
- Nick and Christian: 66/110
- Claudean and Anthony: 53/110
- Coco and Pearls: 50/110
