Tuesday night’s episode of My Kitchen Rules (MKR) showcased the culinary highs and lows for food aficionados Nick and Christian.
The duo talked up their cooking prowess but struggled to deliver.
Coco and Pearls, currently languishing at the bottom of the leaderboard, were clearly hoping for the pair to falter.
“I want them to fail tonight. I’ll say it like I want their demise in order to have a second chance,”
Coco openly declared.
Nick and Christian began with an unconventional dish of Kangaroo Tartare with Saltbush and Potato Crisps. Although the menu left some guests skeptical, the dish was met with considerable praise. Colin found the entrée a “clever start and full of flavour” but suggested more crisps could be added. Manu had only praise, describing it as “top notch.”
The culinary duo seemed poised to top the leaderboard, but their performance plummeted with the main dish: Chargrilled Swordfish with Jalapeno and Corn Salsa and Nduja Butter.
The swordfish lacked both char and seasoning. Manu was notably disappointed that the boys failed to taste the dish before serving. “You are in the business, yeah? Hearing this from you is upsetting,” he lamented.
Hoping for redemption through dessert, Nick and Christian encountered another hurdle. Their Sokolatopita with Orange Crème Fraiche didn’t pass the kitchen test, appearing wet and overly sweet. “Walking this dish out, I’m not proud of what we are putting down in front of our guests,” Christian admitted.
The final scores were a letdown, with judges awarding 38/60 and guests tallying 28/50, making a combined score of 66/110. Yet, Nick and Christian still managed to outscore Coco and Pearls, who saw a fleeting glimmer of hope extinguished.
