The ABC network is set to captivate junior horticulturists and their families with the debut of its new series, Gardening Australia Junior.
Premiering tonight at 7:05 pm on ABC Kids and ABC iview, the show aims to cultivate young Australians’ passion for gardening.
Esteemed gardening expert Costa Georgiadis takes the helm as host. The series traverses landscapes from sprawling rural areas to compact urban balconies, offering practical and entertaining gardening advice.
Accompanying Costa are known faces from Gardening Australia — Tammy Huynh, Clarence Slockee, and Hannah Moloney. Each week, these experts along with budding young gardeners will undertake engaging backyard gardening projects.
Over the course of 20 episodes, Costa and his team aspire to motivate families to embrace both the art and labour involved in gardening. The show offers a plethora of activities and tips that promise to engage children in this timeless hobby.
Gardening Australia Junior also incorporates an essential Indigenous perspective through its partnership with Aboriginal-led horticulture group, Wildflower. Clarence Slockee, a Cudgenburra/Bunjalung man, spearheads a special segment focused on Native Gardens.
Adding another layer of finesse to the series is its unique soundtrack. The original music is composed by Lachlan Nicholson, with Joff Bush serving as the music consultant. Bush is renowned for his contributions to another ABC Kids’ hit, Bluey.
