Stan Sport, Australia’s sole streaming service for 4K UHD live sports, has raised the stakes for its Rugby World Cup 2023 coverage.

The streaming platform has confirmed an elite team of commentators and analysts, bringing together an unprecedented level of expertise to the eagerly awaited tournament.

Fronting the commentary panel is Michael Hooper, the former Wallabies captain who boasts a remarkable 125 Test appearances. After a recent injury led to his exclusion from the Wallabies’ RWC squad, Hooper joins Stan Sport, where his extensive experience under Wallabies coach Eddie Jones will be a key feature.

Accompanying Hooper in the studio will be seasoned host Nick McArdle, alongside ex-Wallabies Mat Rogers, Stephen Hoiles, and James Horwill. They will be joined by dual international Allana Ferguson and Wallaroo Sera Naiqama. The team will employ cutting-edge AR graphics for an immersive match analysis.

To give viewers a comprehensive ground-level view in France, former Wallabies Tim Horan, Morgan Turinui, and Justin Harrison will be delivering in-depth match analysis. They’ll be flanked by All Blacks legends Sonny Bill Williams and Andrew Mehrtens, with Sean Maloney on commentary and Michael Atkinson offering sideline updates.

Stan Sport will feature several supplementary programs to keep Australian rugby fans informed and engaged. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will see Rugby World Cup Central, hosted by Roz Kelly and Nick McArdle, summarising key talking points and match results.

On Tuesdays, Between Two Posts will transport viewers to local French cafés for a casual chat on tournament developments. Hosted by Sean Maloney, Morgan Turinui, and Andrew Mehrtens, this show aims to provide an insider’s look into the Wallabies’ performance.

Rugby Heaven airs every Thursday with an eclectic mix of stories and fan interactions. Featuring a panel that includes Michael Atkinson, Morgan Turinui, Andrew Mehrtens, Tim Horan, Sonny Bill Williams, and Sean Maloney, the show promises to keep the rugby spirit buzzing.

“With the game’s most recognisable face Michael Hooper completing an outstanding lineup, Stan Sport has built a commentary team that will do justice to one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

The tournament’s loss was our viewer’s gain with the former captain set to add new insight to what is already the most comprehensive commentary lineup the game has seen.

A huge tournament just got bigger for Stan Sport subscribers.”
