Wednesday Ratings | THE BLOCK lifts Nine for the mid-week win

As Seven clear the decks ahead of MKR’s premiere next week it opens the way for others to step in and up


Channel 9

A Current Affair (636,000) kicked off Nine’s night with the 7pm win, followed by The Block (578,000)with continued with the primetime slot win. The rest of the night flipped around based on location through Luxe Listings Sydney (261,000), a repeat of Dream Listing Byron Bay (72,000 BNE/SYD), and Footy Classified (84,000 MEL/ADL/PER). The Equalizer (65,000) completed the evening with the audience all back together.

Nine first in both primary (21.9%) and network (30.8%) rankings.

Channel 7

After Home & Away (408,000) there was little interest in Seven’s line-up. A new then repeat ep of Border Security (327,000; 312,000) slid into fourth place, and the double ep finale of Without Sin (152,000; 110,000) drew in a small audience though last week’s eps did better business in the Total TV numbers (below). A repeat of Monster Mansion: Evil Behind Bars (46,000) held up the late night schedule.

Seven second in both primary (16%) and network (24.4%) rankings.


ABC

Wednesdays are proving to be hard to beat on the ABC. It starts strong with the 7:30 (408,000)/Hard Quiz (450,000) double, and then ran into Mother and Son (344,000) and the premiere of WTFAQ (254,000). Repeats of Would I Lie To You? (229,000), QI (171,000), and Madga’s Big National Health Check (DNR) filled out the night.

ABC third in primary (12.9%) and fourth in network (17.6%) rankings.


Channel 10

The Project (193,000 6:30pm; 279,000 7pm) picked up a little on the night before, due in no small part to Thank God You’re Here (556,000) doing reliable numbers for 10. Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers (291,000) and Five Bedrooms (109,000) add Australian content to the later night, before So Help Me Todd (51,000) and a repeat of FBI (34,000) closed out the evening.

10 fourth in primary (11.7%) and third in network (18.6%) rankings.

SBS

A quiet mid-week night for SBS that kicked off with Michael Mosley: Secrets of the Superagers (141,000) and ran through Building the Snowy (149,000) and Wolf (34,000).

SBS fifth in both primary (4.3%) and network (8.6%) rankings.


KEY DEMOS

16-39: Thank God You’re Here (161,000) led The Block, Seven News 6pm, Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers, and Nine News 6:30pm.

18-49: Thank God You’re Here (256,000) beat The Block, Seven News 6pm/6:30pm, and Nine News 6:30pm.

25-54: Thank God You’re Here (290,000) delivered the triple-demo win to 10, followed by Nine News 6:30pm, The Block, and Seven News 6pm/6:30pm.


MULTI-CHANNELS

Peppa Pig – AM (107,000) easily leads the multi-channel race for ABC Kids/TV Plus.

One change to the previous week’s primetime line-up after the Total TV figures were added: The Voice Australia (Seven) lifted 27% to 1,155,000; The Block (Nine) lifted 45% to 1,094,000; and Thank God You’re Here (10) lifted 46% to 862,000.

The BVOD best were The Block (234,000), The Voice Australia (165,000), Mother and Son (161,000), Thank God You’re Here (131,000), and Home and Away (126,000).
