Telstra, after taking a majority stake in Fetch TV, has rolled out the Fetch streaming platform. The platform allows Telstra customers to navigate a wide array of content—movies, TV series, free-to-air channels, subscription offerings, and pay-per-view events—effortlessly.

Fetch comes packed with cutting-edge features such as ‘universal voice search’ and ‘continue watching,’ making it incredibly user-friendly. These features aim to let subscribers find and resume their content with utmost ease.

Integrating Telstra Plus, the telecom giant’s loyalty programme, into Fetch is a boon for customers. Telstra Plus members can now use points to redeem a broad array of content on Fetch’s TV and Movie Store. Moreover, they can accumulate points through rentals and purchases. Those in the Telstra Plus Silver and Gold tiers can look forward to 25% and 50% discounts on Fetch Store transactions, respectively.

Kim Krogh Andersen, Telstra Group Executive of Product and Technology, elaborated on the launch:

“The Fetch partnership is integral to our T25 growth strategy. Our aim is to continually enhance our home entertainment offerings, which is why we acquired a significant share in Fetch TV.”

He added,

“As TV holds a pivotal role in Australian households, we’re committed to setting standards in content delivery. Existing Telstra TV users can continue to enjoy their current platform until 2024, but we will soon start facilitating a transition to Fetch.”

Currently, Fetch and Telstra TV serve approximately 1.3 million Australian households. Telstra is set on migrating a considerable number of its Telstra TV user base to the upgraded Fetch platform.

To kick things off, Telstra is offering a three-month free subscription to Fetch’s Ultimate Channel pack and Movie Box pack. The Ultimate Channel pack features 43 linear channels including big names like ESPN and BBC First, while Movie Box provides a rotating selection of 30 movies, adding a new title each day.

Two hardware options are also available: the Fetch Mini puck and the more robust Fetch Mighty PVR, which includes a 1 TB hard drive for multi-channel recording. With online orders already underway, the products will be available through additional channels starting next week.

The pricing for Fetch Mini starts at $198 or $8.25/month, while Fetch Mighty is priced at $396 or $16.50/month, marking a significant upgrade in Telstra’s home entertainment offerings.
