In the latest episode of The Voice on Channel 7, the competition among the superstar coaches—Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian, Jason Derulo, and Jessica Mauboy—intensified as they finalized their respective teams.

Christian Ellis, a 20-year-old bellboy from Queensland, shared his inspirational journey of how he turned to singing after learning to walk again due to spinal paralysis. He performed an acoustic rendition of Tina Turner’s “The Best.”

Jess and Rita expressed their enthusiasm by turning their chairs. Jason Derulo, however, won Christian over with a pitch that promised mentorship in both singing and life skills.

Emily Kate, an 18-year-old water polo player from Newcastle, captivated all four coaches with her unique take on the 90s classic “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. Rita Ora described the performance as changing her perspective on coaching, calling it “the perfect audition.”

Guy Sebastian echoed this sentiment, labelling it “a 101 masterclass of how to audition for The Voice.” Rita then used her final block to prevent Jason from even making his pitch, thereby securing Emily for Team Rita.

Charlie Pittman, a 25-year-old from NSW, performed Dean Lewis’s “How Do I Say Goodbye,” dedicating it to his late father who had encouraged him to follow his dream of becoming a singer. The remaining coaches turned their chairs, captivated by his moving act.

Guy remarked that Charlie “has the goods to make a career out of this,” while Jess noted he is a “ready-to-go pop star” fit for radio airplay. Charlie chose to join Team Guy, filling the last available spot.

With Rita and Guy’s teams now at full capacity, the upcoming episode will be the final opportunity for Jess and Jason to complete their teams with promising talent.

The Voice – Continues 7.00pm Sunday on Channel 7 and 7plus
